NASTURIUMS & FRIENDS
Limited Edition Print

I love that I paid attention to what was happening in my garden.

The story goes like this. In spring, I planted Nasturtium seeds. They didn’t last long after sprouting their lily pad-like leaves. Miss Rabbit nibbled away all their tender shoots. While my garden is made up mostly of Minnesota native plants, Nasturtiums are a favorite. They’re hardy and can flourish even in the poorest of soil.

Then one day, I spotted Nasturtium coming up at the edge of the garden where I had first planted it. Around the Nasturtium, starting from the top (you can’t see much from the watercolor), is native Canadian Horseweed.

The three prominent ladies surrounding the Nasturtium are Bitter Nightshade.

Growing at the top and the bottom of the Nasturtium is Pale Willowherb.

Growing under the Nasturtium is Broad-leaf Plantain. Sprinkled all around these native plants is Wood Sorrel.

Prints are sold unframed. Please see the fine art print details below.

Description

A STORY ABOUT PLANTS, FRIENDSHIP & COMMUNITY
I planted nasturtium seeds in spring, and Miss Rabbit nibbled every shoot to nothing within days. I thought that was the end of it — until it reappeared at the garden’s edge, quietly holding its ground among volunteers: native horseweed, bitter nightshade, pale willowherb, broadleaf plantain, wood sorrel. The Garden Nature Grows is what I found when I stopped tending and started looking.
