HOPE IN THE GARDEN

Every perennial, native or not, pushing up tender growth among the dried stems and leaf litter is cause for celebration. I tend to be over the moon about the small things in nature only because so much of it symbolizes rejuvenation and resilience.

Painted during a time in our country when things are very uncertain, “Baby Cabbages” is about innocence and resilience. A succulent plant, its true name is Sedum, sometimes called Stonecrop. The thought of gardening, like art, eases my mind, a positive thing to do as everything else falls apart.

The tiny young bundles of Sedum resemble babies with tiny mouths opening up to eat the sun.

Prints are sold unframed. Please see the fine art print details below.
